Project "Conflict resolution and restorative communication among conflict affected children and youth" /2016, Mariupol City/

Institute for Peace and Common Ground in the partnership with the UN Children's Fund in Ukraine (UNICEF) and the German Community for International Cooperation GIZ from February 1 to October 30, 2016 implements the project "Conflict resolution and restorative communication among conflict affected children and youth". The project offers a comprehensive approach to daily settlement of conflicts in schools of Mariupol and Kyiv and prevention of offenses among minors.

WITHIN THE PROJECT, THE FOLLOWING THREE COMPONENTS SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED:

Implementation of restorative practices in 20 schools of Mariupol and Donetsk oblast.

 

Goal:

improve capacity of students and teachers in the area of non-conflict communication

 

Establishment of a system of School Centres for Common Ground

 

 

Goal:

peer mediation and conflict resolution services in targeted schools

Development and implementation of a mediation programme in a juvenile justice process as a mechanism of diversion of children in conflict with the law from the formal justice system and rehabilitation measure

 

 PARTNERSHIP

Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the structural units of the National Police of Ukraine in the regions, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ukrainian scientific-methodical center of practical psychology and social work, Mariupol Union of Youth.

ORGANIZATIONS THAT IMPLEMENT THE PROJECT

INSTITUTE OF PEACE AND COMMON GROUND – a public organization whose mission is to build a dialogue for the development of groups, organizations and communities and achieve positive, sustainable change.

UN Children's Fund in Ukraine (UNICEF) – United Nations agency that has worked in Ukraine since 1997 to improve the lives of children and families. UNICEF provides support in the establishment of programs on health, nutrition, education and protection of children, defending the rights of children and families who find themselves in crisis situations. UNICEF also works to improve the health, education and protection of the rights of mothers in Ukraine.
